CONTACT Photography Festival

This week - I wanted to do a little bit of public service for those of you in the Toronto area. There is a little more than a week to check out the CONTACT Photography Festival. The festival, which started on Apr/28, will be wrapping up at the end of May.

There are a few notable events that have happened, or are still happening, during the festival:

  • The Scotiabank Photography Award this year was awarded to Shelly Niro. Check out her website.
  • Last’s years award winner Suzy Lake, has a free exhibit at the Ryerson Image Centre. Her exhibit actually runs until Aug/13. She’s also giving a free artist’s talk on May/24 at 7pm (also at the Ryerson Image Centre). Currently, only rush seating is available.
  • Numerous smaller exhibitions are located all around town. Have a look at this map. There's sure to be a small venue near you and many of the exhibits go on past the festival end-date, so you can probably still catch them later.

Get out there and see some great images!

Feature Photograph of the Week - Victoria Harbour
